Living Day by Day in the Central African Republic

In Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, the seeming calm of recent months is actually interrupted at regular intervals by revolts, riots and fighting.

EMERGENCY-RCAOn Tuesday night, a Muslim man was lynched and burnt in the neighborhood of Gobongo. In reply, the Muslims living in PK5 launched a grenade against a taxi yesterday morning, causing a number of deaths. They also set fire to some houses. Yesterday evening there was shooting in the city and grenades were thrown too. Bangui shuts down after 5 o’clock: everyone heads back to their own neighbourhood or village in the early afternoon to avoid the worst.

Here at EMERGENCY, at the “Complexe Pédiatrique,” we’ve admitted a boy with firearm wounds.

In Bangui, like in the rest of the country, you live day by day.
