In December 2010, EMERGENCY opened a clinic in Marghera (near Venice), to provide free-of-charge health care to immigrants (with or without valid visas) and local residents in need. With the exception of a few medical and non-medical personnel, the medical, paramedical and administrative staff at the clinic is ran by volunteers.
This program was undertaken in full agreement with the local health authorities; they donated and renovated the structure, completely free-of-charge.
