Thanksgiving 2018
Thanksgiving is a time of joyful celebration, yet also a time of reflection. While making your holiday plans are reflecting on all you have to be thankful for, it is also a good time to think about those who are less fortunate and consider whether you can be of assistance to those who are in need of free medical care.
Article 25 of the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948 states that “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services.”
“In 1994, I found EMERGENCY with the aim of guaranteeing the high-standard, free-of-charge care to the victims of war and poverty. This is because everyone has the right to medical care.”
Gino Strada, Founder of EMERGENCY
EMERGENCY has a grounded, extensive and holistic presence in Afghanistan, Central African Republic, Iraq, Sierra Leone, and Sudan.
The focus? Providing high-quality healthcare at a standard that we would expect to receive ourselves. We treat war-related emergencies and chronic health needs on a daily basis. Over six million people have found medical support in our facilities.
What better way to celebrate Thanksgiving than to make a conscious decision to help those who are in need?
