Every Step He Takes Is Even More Confident Than The Last

We’d like to introduce you to Dahen. He was born with a congenital deformity and his left leg had to be amputated when he was very young. He has relied on a prosthetic limb ever since.

We first met Dahen three years ago at our Rehabilitation and Social Reintegration Centre in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, and he’s come back for a check up. Our physiotherapists and orthotechnicians monitor to ensure that the prosthetic is adapted to fit correctly as he grows up.

Dahen is shy but very determined. During balance and posture exercises, he likes to stay close to his mum, but the progress we see makes us so happy – the staff here adore him :).

We are doing everything we can to ensure that Dahen can overcome his disability. Together with the prosthetic limb we have made him and the unwavering support of his mother, every step he takes is even more confident than the last. Long may that continue.
