EMERGENCY USA Annual Benefit Dinner 2024

On November 17th, nearly 100 supporters gathered in Los Angeles to celebrate EMERGENCY USA at the annual Benefit Dinner.

During the evening, we honored former staff member Dr Michelle Foltz, an orthopedic surgeon who worked with EMERGENCY on 19 missions, including 15 in Afghanistan. As part of a larger ongoing project, Dr Foltz read excerpts from diaries written throughout her time spent at the Kabul Surgical Centre for War Victims during some of the most intense phases of the conflict.

Alongside Dr Foltz, we honored Dr Edward Newton, a board-certified emergency medicine physician who consulted at EMERGENCY’s Goderich Surgical Centre, Sierra Leone, and Sarah Wagner, a nurse practitioner who spent time at the Lashkar-Gah Surgical Centre, Afghanistan, and the Sulaymaniyah Rehabilitation and Social Reintegration Centre, Iraq.

We were also joined on the night by members of the Association for Bladder Exstrophy Community (A-BE-C). Thanks to an ongoing collaboration with EMERGENCY, a team from A-BE-C recently visited the Children’s Surgical Hospital in Entebbe, Uganda, to share their expertise on complex orthopedic and urological conditions such as bladder exstrophy, a rare congenital anomaly, thus further enhancing the hospital’s capabilities in addressing highly specialized pediatric needs.

Thank you to our honored guests and to all who attended the Benefit Dinner. Our work is not possible without your dedicated support!
