On Wednesday 11 January at 4pm, there was an explosion near the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul.
“One child at a time, one life at a time, midwives are an essential part of creating a safe environment for women and new-borns” Panjshir, Afghanistan, 5 May 2019.
These are the words we wrote last year. The current situation was unimaginable – not even on the horizon. Yet the Anabah Maternity Centre remains open and our incredible midwives continue to maintain that safe environment, despite the challenges.
In Afghanistan, COVID-19 is yet another crisis within the wider context of the ongoing war. Despite all this, our teams ceaselessly commit to providing quality care. Thank you to them and all midwives around the world for everything you do.
